President Obama May be on the Verge of Facing a Nuclear Crisis...

Dear Subscribers,

The situation in Iran worsens even as opposition leaders and their supporters continue to march and voice protest at their great peril.

Two of the highest ranking members of the Iranian opposition leaders have called on supporters to protest on February 11, the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution, according to an opposition Web site. By using the cover of the official Holiday, the protesters could use the radical Muslim theological regime’s own holiday to help cloak their large numbers, while at the same time drawing attention to the fact that the hard-line clerical regime that came to power in Iran is no better and may be more brutal than the Shah who was deposed in 1979.

According to The Green Way Web site, a meeting took place Saturday between opposition leaders Mehdi Karroubi and Mir Hossein Moussavi at Karroubi's home. They discussed the two executions that happened last week and the cases of 16 protesters who went on trial Saturday, the site reported. It's very likely many, if not all, of these protesters will be executed or sentenced to long prison terms that are in effect death sentences as well.

Mehdi Karroubi and Mir Hossein Moussavi have issued a statement saying ..."The widespread arrests of political activists and university students, the silencing of the media, and the forced confessions of prisoners are against the principles of Islam and the constitution of Iran".

Immediate Threat from President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Sets the Stage for a Show Down Over Iran's Development of Nuclear Weapons

By now, the rants and threats towards Israel, United States and Great Britain have become a steady reality from Iran's Supreme Leader and its President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. But this past Sunday, the state-run Press TV quoted Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as saying that the nation will deliver a harsh blow to "global arrogance" on February 11.

I started warning about this madman back in 2005. Despite the rhetoric about developing a nuclear capability for peaceful purposes, the fact is Ahmadinejad has fast tracked the development of nuclear weapons and we should be prepared to see the unthinkable on February 11, 2010 -- an underground nuclear weapons test. I hope I'm wrong as such a test would adversely change our world forever.

Obama Considers the Threat Serious and has Taken Military Preparations

The threat posed by Ahmadinejad’s February 11th has resulted in the disclosure that President Barack Obama is deploying a missile shield to protect American allies in the Gulf from attack by Tehran.

The United States is dispatching Patriot defensive missiles to four countries – Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Kuwait– and keeping two ships in the Gulf capable of shooting down Iranian missiles. Washington is also helping Saudi Arabia develop a force to protect its oil installations.

American officials said the move is aimed at deterring an attack by Iran and reassuring Gulf States fearful that Tehran might react to sanctions by striking at US allies in the region. Washington is also seeking to discourage Israel from a strike against Iran by demonstrating that the US is prepared to contain any threat.

A weapons test would be catastrophic and could prompt the Israeli government to take military steps that would literally annihilate large portions of Iran.  The demonstration of a nuclear weapons capability by Iran would only serve to create immediate urgency to completely neutralize Iran.

If the threat for February 11, 2010 turns out to be a mass execution of existing opposition protesters and leaders or even the summary execution of hundreds protesters collected by the country's Republican Guard on that day - even China will have to sit up and recognize the danger and re-consider its resistance to harsher UN security council sanctions.

The events taking place in Iran could have an even greater impact on the energy and gold market than other potential crisis that could emerge on or before February 11, 2010.

Greece, United Kingdom, Austria are all in dire economic trouble. Rumors surrounding the collapse of Switzerland’s' banking giant UBS still persist. Hundreds of regional banks in the United States could still fail this year. Fears about a double dip recession are in the news every day.

Even world famous economist New York University professor Nouriel Roubini, the big numbers put up in the fourth-quarter GNP were virtually meaningless, and the 5.7 percent economic growth was bad news when taking into consideration the actual facts relating to the data.

For example, most of the 5.7 percent "growth" is attributed to replenishing inventories, which when that is set aside, it only came to a little more than a growth rate of 2.2 percent, with Roubini saying he believes it'll be much worse in the last half of 2010, where he sees economic expansion at an anemic 1.5 percent growth rate.

Talking to Bloomberg Television from the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, Nourini said concerning the growth numbers, “The headline number will look large and big, but actually when you dissect it, it’s very dismal and poor. I think we are in trouble.”

Now that Obama is no longer in control in Washington, expect very little to get done except tax cuts and even bigger spending.

The losses in New Jersey, Virginia and Massachusetts in the past few months have set the stage for a every Democratic legislator in Washington D.C. to have me first mentality. This should mean big compromises on tax cuts with the Republicans, and more Federal Spending by politicians who really believe they can spend their way out of the current recession. The only thing this will do is further debase the value of the dollar. Oil again at over $90 a barrel and gold at over $1500 this year may well be the result.

Best Wishes,
