1. Geopolitical Events. Gary Stern speaks in Singapore on Monday while the five members of the U.N. Security Council review reports on Iran's nuclear program.

2. Economic Releases. There are several economic releases of note this week other than the weekly oil/gas numbers.

3. Earnings Releases. The third quarter release of earnings continues this week. See the earnings section.

Tuesday, November 20:

  • The Bank of Japan ends its meeting and is expected to hold rates the same.

  • October Housing Starts are due out at 8:30 and expected to fall to 1.17 million from 1.19 million.

Wednesday, November 21:

  • The Bank of England publishes minutes from its meeting in early November.

  • The U.S. bond market closes early at 2:00 p.m. for Thanksgiving Day celebrations.

  • October Leading Indicators are due out at 10:00 and are expected to drop to -.3% from .3%.

  • NYSE and Amex short interest data is released after the close today.

Thursday, November 22:

  • U.S. markets are closed for Thanksgiving Day celebrations.

Friday, November 23:

  • October Industrial Production is released at 9:15 and expected to remain at 0.1%.

  • U.S. markets close early as trading ends at 1 p.m. EST.
